As I’ve told family and friends that I canceled cable, I’ve been surprised at how many people told me they have done the same thing, in some cases, years ago!

Although I canceled service a week ago Friday, as of this afternoon, I still have cable service. The day of reckoning must be getting close as I received a robo-call last week reminding me to return my cable box and yesterday I received my final bill.

Since I canceled service, each time as I turn on the TV, there is a moment of anticipation; will this be the time I have no reception? I watched a great program last night on PBS on the architectural wonders of ancient Rome. If there were more programs like that one, more often, I never would have stopped service. The program was a sad reminder of TV’s potential that it occasionally does live up to.
